Jane Herold Pottery is moving! And having a sale before we go!

Jane and Jug and Barn.jpg

After 39 wonderful years of your friendship and support here in Palisades, Robert and I have bought a home in West Cornwall, Connecticut and will be moving there mid-May. But first we will have one more firing of the wood kiln here in Palisades, and a home sale to say goodbye to all of you. I can't thank you enough for your years of supporting the pottery, helping me evolve as a potter, and your continued interest in my work all these years....you've made it all possible, Thank you! Please read to the end as there's a lot of information there about the future!

The Palisades Sale will be Mother's Day Weekend

May 11th and 12th

Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM

Sunday 1 PM to 4 PM.

Ludlow Lane, Palisades, NY (follow the signs from Route 9W and Washington Spring Rd)

Please come by if you can. I'd love to see all of you!

The new pottery, still called Jane Herold Pottery, will be at 54 Sharon Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall, CT 06796 It's 1:40 minutes from Palisades, and a rather lovely drive up the Saw Mill Parkway.

We're having an inaugural home sale there on Memorial Day Weekend, hoping to tempt you all to a trip to a beautiful corner of North West Connecticut, to see our new home!

The showroom will be about twice the size of the Palisades showroom allowing us to hang Robert's paintings as well as showing Jane's pots. I will be holding some pots aside from the Palisades sale to have in West Cornwall.

The West Cornwall Sale will be Memorial Day Weekend

May 25th and 26th

10 AM to 5 PM both days

54 Sharon Goshen Tpk, (also called route 128) West Cornwall, CT 06796

We are just west of the intersection of route 4 and route 128, on the corner of Hall Road. Look for the big white mailbox with Jane Herold Pottery painted in red.

Once we're settled in I plan to post some pots online so that those of you who know my work and would like to continue to buy it, but without the drive, will have an easy way to do so. It will no doubt take a little while to get that going, but please check my website from time to time!  Or just  call or come visit!

I also hope to make a lot more custom dinnerware for families and individuals, and will have room for many more samples of various shapes and styles in the big showroom.

As for all you chefs, YES! I am still making dinnerware for restaurants and will be able to stock some shapes, unglazed, so you can choose a color and have the pots in fairly quick order. Of course I will still do custom shapes and sizes and will still be throwing each pot on the kick wheel, leaving the traces of my touch.

One of the happiest aspects of our new home is that there are quite a few wood firing potters in the area, and Todd Piker, (who like Jane, worked with Michael Cardew), has his pottery just eight minutes away at 69 Kent Road South (Route 7) in Cornwall Bridge. He will also have a sale Memorial Day weekend, emphasizing lamps, and you can easily visit both of us in one trip. Click on his name for a link to his sale information.

As always, please bring cash or checks, since I don't generally handle credit cards. And plan on some extra time to walk along the nearby Housatonic River, or hike in Mohawk State Forest, or frequent the various places to eat in nearby Kent or Sharon. If you'd like to bring a picnic we would love you to take advantage of our lovely new new spot!

A few photos of some of the new pots will follow, just as soon as they are out of the kiln next week!

I hope to see a lot of you for a fond farewell, but I also hope you'll come up and see us in Connecticut, where we are very happy to be starting this whole new chapter in life.
